Spring Insticts Panels - Social Dominant

  • Date: Monday, May 5, 2025
  • Time: 6:30-8:30pm CST
  • Location: Carondelet Center, 1890 Randolph Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55105
  • Presenter: Karen Carlsen, MSW, LICSW, Enneagram Type 6, Social Dominant (She/Her)

This spring, Enneagram Minnesota will be hosting a series of three panels to explore the instinctual dimensions of the Enneagram. Within each of the nine types, there are three basic instincts that we all have - Self Preservation, Sexual (One-to-One) and Social. We all have all of these instincts - and as we grow, one becomes more dominant, one is secondary and one becomes less important and remains repressed. Understanding your instinctual sequence is key to personal growth.

Over the course of the three sessions, we aim to foster a clearer understanding of the instincts with examples from three different Enneagram types on a panel.  We will look at how the dominant instinct blends alchemically with our individual Type’s passion to form our Subtype, and how we can find pathways of growth through this increased awareness. We will dispel some common misconceptions and stereotypes about the instincts.

During each session, we will offer a brief teaching about each of the nine Subtypes for that instinct and moderate a community panel that will shine additional light on this important aspect of the Enneagram.
